6월 1일, 세계 환경의 날을 앞두고 제주도에서 '플라스틱 장례식 행진'이 진행됐습니다🥤⚰️ 플라스틱 오염의 종식을 선언하고, 전환의 시대를 알리는 상징적인 퍼포먼스였는데요,
아이들, 청년, 해녀, 풍물놀이패, 시민까지 다양한 세대와 주체들이 한마음으로 플라스틱 너머의 세상을 향해 함께 걸어 나아갔습니다 🚶♀️➡️
풍물놀이패를 선두로 어영공원에서 이호테우 해수욕장까지 플라스틱 관과 영정사진을 들고 행진했습니다 ✨ 이후 백사장에 플라스틱 관을 묻고, 묘비를 세우며 플라스틱 오염 시대와의 작별을 고했습니다 🖐🌿
✅ 플라스틱 오염의 해결책은 단 하나, 생산 감축입니다.
이를 위해 환경운동연합 자원순환팀은 8월 INC-5.2까지 계속해서 한국 정부의 생산 감축 동의를 촉구할 예정입니다 🙌

Farewell to Plastic Pollution: The Plastic Funeral 🌿🖐
Ahead of the 53rd World Environment Day, held under the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” in Jeju, South Korea, the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements (KFEM) hosted a symbolic march: the Plastic Funeral🥤⚰️
This performance declared an end to the era of plastic pollution.
Children, youth, haenyeo (female divers), and local citizens of Jeju walked together in solidarity—toward a world beyond plastic 🚶♀️➡️
Led by a traditional Korean pungmul troupe, participants carried a plastic coffin and a symbolic portrait through the coastal paths of Jeju. At the beach, they buried the coffin and erected a tombstone, bidding farewell to the plastic-polluted era 🖐🌿
✅ There is only one real solution to plastic pollution: cutting production.
KFEM’s Resource Circulation Team will continue to pressure the Korean government to formally support production cuts in the lead-up to the INC-5.2 negotiations this August 🙌
