8. Summary of proposal objectives:

The project aims to prepare Ecotourism development Concept and Strategy in each zones of
TumenNet area, promote public awareness, and assist administrations of protected
area/national parks and other tourism related organizations/companies to protect nature
and environment as developing ecotourism.

9. How will these objectives be achieved?
The objectives will be achieved through:
· organizing national and bilateral level workshops
· strengthening capacity building at local, national and regional levels
· promoting awareness programmes for the domestic and foreign tourists, tour
operators, local communities and local authorities
· developing bilateral and regional ecotourism routes
· improving ecotourism management

10. Describe how the target population will benefit from the project and link those
benefits to the project activities.
· The capacity of local communities for development of ecotourism and
conservation of natural resources will be strengthened.

11. Comment on gender equity in formulation, design and implementation of this
project. Does it assist any disadvantaged groups/ people?
· The project will promote the participation of women and disadvantaged people in
the development of ecotourism as well as in conservation of natural resources.

12. Describe the impact your project has on improving the environment, in
particular on biodiversity and waters protection.
· Ecotourism development project will be a tool for conservation of natural and
cultural resources (including transboundary biodiversity) and an instrument for
sustainable development in TumenNET area. For example: Domestic and foreign tourists,
local communities, and local authorities will be provided with environmental education
and ecological awareness.

attractiveness of natural protected areas, raising the public awareness towards

Rajin – Songbon (DPRK) – Changbay Mt. (National Park) – Nei Mongol – Eastern Mongolia –
Daurskaya Steppe (Chita, Russia), then back bythe TransSiberian railway via Khabarovsk
(wetlands) to Vladivostok (visit Ussuriisky Taiga). June – July –
Integrate Ecotourism into management plan of Protected Areas, which located in
transboundary areas of Tumen River, Daurian Steppe, Mongolian Plateau and Supra zones.
June – August –
Elaborate and approve the Ecotourism Development Concept and Strategy in the Tumen River,
Daurian Steppe, Mongolian Plateau and Supra zones. July – September –

1. Please provide evidence of self-help and demonstrate the commitment of local
people / authorities to this project.
Local authority and local communities will contribute for further promotion of ecotourism
activities in each transboundary zones.

15. How to do propose to sustain the project once all project funds have been
expended? E.g., how will you meet maintenance, repair, and ongoing operational costs for
the project? Please provide a letter of support from pertinent authorities.
Activities of regional ecotourism development project will be sustained by protected
area/national parks or other tourism related organizations/companies.
