8. Summary of proposal objectives:
The objective of this project is to enhance local community participation in conservation
of transboundary biodiversity in transboundary areas of Tumen River, Mongolian Plateau,
Daurian and Supra zones of TumenNET area.

9. How will these objectives be achieved?
Objectives will be achieved through:
§ holding workshop for initiating this project which will formulate the TOR,
identifying the task, working out the plan, establishing the expert working group and
distributing the tasks; determining the candidate demonstration sites within the TumenNET
area to be targeted in the project and determining possible institutional
framework/mechanisms for implementation of the demonstration activities.
§ developing and implementing environment conservation plans for selected villages
§ promoting awareness programme in order to distribute lesson learned experiences
to other neighbor villages
§ strengthening the capacity building at local, national and regional levels

10. Describe how the target population will benefit from the project and link those
benefits to the project activities.
§ The capacity of local communities for protection of transboundary biodiversity
will be strengthened through workshops and seminars.

11. Comment on gender equity in formulation, design and implementation of this
project. Does it assist any disadvantaged groups/ people?
§ The project will promote the participation of women and disadvantaged people in
conservation of transboundary biodiversity.

12. Describe the impact your project has on improving the environment, in
particular on biodiversity and waters protection.
§ The Environment Conservation Plans for selected villages prepared and
implemented in transboundary areas.

§ Implementing Agents of this project are all research institutions and
environment related organizations. So all the project components such as survey, capacity
building and awareness activities will be carried out in cooperation of all these
organizations and local communities.

15. How to do propose to sustain the project once all project funds have been
expended? E.g., how will you meet maintenance, repair, and ongoing operational costs for
the project? Please provide a letter of support from pertinent authorities.
The outputs of the project will be sustained by local authorities and local communities.
